Wizards (0 - 0) - Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 7:00PM EST - Verizon Center The Politics Of Presentation Oh, the wonder of it all - down in Washington, DC, they're not only zeroing in on the Presidential campaign, but Agent Zero, Gilbert Arenas, who was brought back to lead the Wiz out of the wilderness (with a lovely contract to boot) but who is out of the lineup until Christmas at the earliest. They have Carter cousin Antawn Jamison, Caron Butler and Antonio Daniels, but they also have a lot of youngsters that coach Eddie Jordan is going to have to force into the mix. The Nets can certainly sympathize with that presentation - Vince Carter is here to present to the Wiz faithful, but after that it's a young crowd that makes its season debut, and perhaps none too soon. Will they be electing Agent Zero to a higher office because he's out of the lineup, or when he's back in? It's a political roundball if we've ever heard one, since the Wiz seem to play better when Agent Zero is campaigning and not ballin'. Opening night for your New Jersey Nets, and it's no surprise the pundits are calling for a recount before the season even starts...can they exceed everyone's admittedly low expectations? We find out starting tonight. What's The One Thing You Need To Know? Washington: Can the Wiz again win consistently with Antonio Daniels and not Arenas at the controls? New Jersey: How much can the Nets count on their young bench to help relieve some of the pressure on Vince Carter and Devin Harris? - Joe Washington Wizards Cheat Sheet The Story From DC: From the Washington Post: We know who the starters are, but who's coming off the bench? Here's coach Eddie Jordan's take: "If everyone was consistent during the preseason I would have known, but no one was consistent in every sense of the word," Jordan said. "We have to see. We have to see who is going to play well the first night. And if they do, they get to do it the next night and if they do it that night, they can do it the third night. If they don't do well, we'll see if somebody else can do it. That's how we're going to go." Pain Game: G Gilbert Arenas (knee) is out until mid-December. C Brendan Haywood (wrist) is out until after the All-Star break. F Eddie Najera (wrist), C Josh Boone (chest), F Trenton Hassell (Ear) and F Yi Jianlian (foot) are all listed as day-to-day (expect Boone and Yi to play). F Stromile Swift (back) is out two weeks.
