Seattle SuperSonics (2 - 4) - Tuesday, November 15, 2005, 7:30PM EST - Continental Airlines Arena
Et Tu, Seattle?
The Sonics are next on the docket, suffering from the same ills as the team from East Rutherford: total lack of defensive intensity. Witness the 137 - 96 blowout by the Wizards the other night as proof - new head coach Bob Weiss (who took over for the departed Nate McMillian, who's having his own troubles in Portland) used words and phrases like "embarassment" and "didn't compete" about his team's performance. The Sonics, behind Ray Allen (who re-upped for the max.), Rashard Lewis, Nick Collison and Luke Ridnour were supposed to work from last year's NorthWest division leading 52 - 30 record, but instead they've lost their 4 games by an average of 25 points.

It's not all doom and gloom - the Sonics managed to beat the Raptors in overtime on Sunday behind Lewis' 41 points to temporarily right the ship. But there is still work to be done, with a rookie C (#1 pick Johan Petro) and a not especially deep bench. The Nets of course can appreciate all of this, having lost two consecutive games in an ugly fashion, with the defensive presence of a sieve.

Can the Nets defend the Sonics into another funk and pick up a much-needed win at home? Or will Allen and Co. start the bombing and fire up the Sonic boom on the Nets?

The Story From Seattle:
What did coach Bob Weiss think of the Sonics' effort against the Wiz on Saturday night? "It was an embarrassment," he said. "We have to become accountable. We've got to become more aggressive. We've got to take it more personal. We let teams manhandle us. We have to have more pride. "We're just in a funk. We're out there stumbling around. We're not competing. It was just completely unacceptable."

Pain Game: G Rick Brunson (plantar faciitis) will miss at least another week.
