Toronto Raptors (20 - 37) – Saturay, March
4, 2006, 1:00PM EST – Continental Airlines Arena
The Sun Rises In The East
How do you rebuild a troubled franchise,
one set back about five years in the Vince Carter trade? Reach out to
a successful organization, hire its chief architect, and go from there.
Well, Bryan Colangelo, you're the new hope in Canada! Firing Rob Babcock,
the man who moved Carter for next to nothing, was a big step in recovery,
but with pieces like Chris Bosh, Mike James, Mo Peterson and Charlie Villanueva,
things aren't all that bad, at least not from a rebuilding standpoint.
If you recall, the Raptors were starting to roll after a 1 - 15 start,
playing some excellent basketball, when Vince Carter threw them a dagger
than beat the Raptors with 0.1 ticks remaining back on January 8. That
was the Nets' 10th straight win, a game they didn't deserve, and it probably
marked the high point of the season for the Nets to date. And
don't forget the bizarre slap-and-tickle that Carter pulled on Mo Peterson,
angering MoPete enough to slap back and get unfairly ejected from the
game. Think there'll be some retaliation today?
In any case, the Nets are search for answers right now, which hopefull
the losers-of-five-straight Rapts can provide. How about some defense,
fellas? Will the Nets set the Raptors ablaze with hot shooting and incindiary
defense? Or will Toronto make like Phoenix east and bludgeon the Nets'
defense into oblivion?

in the next three months or so I want to be in a position that going into
the draft process, going into free agency July 1 that we have our team
in place,'' Colangelo added. ``I have to sit down and get to know everybody
and how they might fit in.''
