Houston Rockets (17 - 17) - Thursday, January 13, 2005, 8:00pm EST - Toyota Center
McNuggets Of Wisdom
Tracy McGrady took games off last year while with Orlando. Anyone not see that coming? McGrady came clean in last week's Sports Illustrated that he wasn't always going full tilt, and well, for the money he makes, he feels guilty about that. You can only imagine how thrilled Jeff Van Gundy was to hear that, especially since the supposed powerhouse combo of Yao and McGrady continue to struggle. Of course, if the Rockets want to trade McGrady for say Kaniel Dickens and Jacque Vaughn, well, Lawrence Frank could combine him with his old teammate and fellow slacker Vince Carter and stand back and watch...Can the Nets, struggling in the face of RJ's loss, find the will to win on the road? Or will the Rockets, with the superstars and shaky supporting crew, put it together and blast the Nets all the way over to Dallas sporting their third straight loss?

Houston Rockets Cheat Sheet
The Story from Houston: In case you didn't read it, here are some sample quotes from McGrady's SI interview: "Some nights I did slack off," says McGrady of last season. "I'm the leader, and these guys are following my lead, so the whole team suffers even worse. That was wrong. Now I would do it differently. I learned. I have to bust my butt no matter what."

"Last year was the worst experience of my life. And I learned. And believe me, I'm grateful for this opportunity here."

"Listen. You can sit there and say I'm making millions of dollars and I should play hard every night and how can I not? It's not that easy. In those situations you forget about how much you're making. It becomes so hard to get up for every game."

And with guaranteed money, you'd think he could find a way to remember how much he gets each game to underperform...

Pain Game: F Clarence Weatherspoon (calf) and G Charlie Ward (knee) are on the injured list.
