Game 13: Blazers 83, Nets 71 - November 28, 2004
Oy Vey
“Oy Vey,”…that’s what I was saying while
watching this debacle of a game. Watching the Nets give up 16 offensive
rebounds was about as fun as Rosh Hashanah services. Seeing the usually
reliable Brian Scalabrine shoot 2-10 from the field was as enjoyable as
bearing witness to a bris (I would say “as getting a bris,” but c’mon…it
wasn’t that bad).
In the first half the two teams tied the record for the fewest combined
points in history, 30-25. At least the defense was playing well, right?
– Wrong. In the middle of the 3rd quarter, the Nets managed to allow the
Blazers to go on a 16-1 run. To the Nets’ credit, they did draw closer
to the Blazers towards the end of the 3rd but it didn’t get any better
after that.
Nets fans, I implore you, pray to your rabbi, your priest, even your Jason
Kidd action figure for some kind of salvation.
Torah! Torah! Torah!
Bench Mitzvah
- The Nets' bench shot a dismal 4-23 in this game. Scalabrine: 2-10. Buford:
2-9. They scored 12 points and also committed 12 fouls.
No Minutes For A-Train Again - I couldn’t
come up with a Jewish reference for this one. Instead of logging part
of the 28 minutes Scalabrine and Krstic got to play, all Aaron Williams
got was a DNP – coach’s decision. I’m starting to wonder if he’s injured.
Number of the Night - 9. That’s what our
losing streak is currently. It’s also the number of fast break points
the Nets scored. See a correlation here?
Call The Rabbi
This game was so bad that the star of
the night is a player who shot 8-22 from the field. Zach
Randolph scored 23 points along with 15 boards to take the honors.
Richard Jefferson scored 20 but the real
treat of the night for Nets fans was seeing Nenad
Krstic get 3 blocks.
