Cleveland Cavaliers (12 - 56) - Sunday, March 23, 2003, 7:00pm EST - Gund Arena
For Shame
It's getting embarrassing in Cleveland. The losses continue to pile up: 3 in a row, 10 of the last 11 and 20 of the last 23. Turmoil roils through the organization – the team may or may not be for sale, the GM and the interim coach are on the hot seat, and their most selfish player reached new lows by trying to pad his statistics by shooting at his own basket (see "Controversy," below). There isn't much talent, or hope in Cleveland, except for the LeBron James sweepstakes, which the Cavs lead by two games over the Nuggets. Hell, they'll find a way to screw that up, too. But, for shame, Nets – one of those three wins mentioned above was an ugly 93 - 90 loss in Cleveland back on February 25. Will the Nets get revenge, and gain some of our respect back, with a win? Or will the Cavs catch the Nets looking ahead to a double-header against the Knicks and embarass them?

See You in Hell, Dolans: The number will rise to 54 games lost to the Cablevision/YES mess. Thankfully, only two more games to go (Friday night's game against the Knicks is on ESPN.

Cleveland Cavaliers Cheat Sheet
The Story from Cleveland: Coach Keith Smart, on the progress former #1 pick DeSagana Diop has made since last season: "He's making great strides. He's moved out of diapers into pullups."

Pain Game: Dajuan Wagner, G (knee) is out.

Controversy: Ricky Davis was hoping to get his 10th rebound and secure a triple-double during the 122-95 win over Utah on March 16 when he intentionally shot at the wrong basket in the finals seconds. NBA rules forbid him from being credited with the shot or the rebound: shooting at your own basket is disallowed, and results in a turnover, with the other team taking the ball out of bounds. "He has to live with what he did," Coach Keith Smart told reporters on March 17. "Wherever he goes, people will remember it." Smart initially said that embarrassment was punishment enough for Cleveland's leading scorer. But the team said March 18 that Davis has been fined.
